SN2-14: New Concepts in Erythropoiesis in Health and Disease

Oct 20, 2019 10:30am ‐ Oct 20, 2019 12:00pm

Description

This session will focus on updating the audience on new concepts in erythropoiesis in the bone marrow in homeostatic and stress conditions like hemolytic anemias and hemoglobinopathies. The session will provide a first-hand experience from innovators in this field who have contributed significantly to our understanding of erythropoiesis in humans and animal models of human disease.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss our current understanding and state-of-the-art questions and methods in red cell specification.
  • Update the audience on the transcriptional signature of erythroid progenitors during fate specification.
  • Outline novel molecular and cellular determinants of bone marrow erythropoiesis in inflammation and stress.
