Description

This session will provide an update on novel concepts on the role of specific populations of circulating monocytes and tissue macrophages in health and inflammation, with emphasis in their role in vascular biology and transfusion related immunomodulation. The session will also provide an update on how specific mutations may drive new activities and recruitment to vessels in vaso-occlusion and cardiovascular disease.

Learning Objectives:

  • Update on the role of circulating monocytes in health and inflammation.
  • Identify mutations associated with monocyte-driven vascular disease.
  • Identify the role of tissue macrophages in transfusion related immunomodulation.
