TU2-13: Update Your Critical Appraisal Skills: Apply a Critical Approach to Appraising the Medical Literature to Massive Hemorrhage Studies

Description

This program will guide the audience through an understanding of the limitations of the clinical trial evidence through critical appraisal skills. The session will discuss approach to critically appraising the transfusion literature to identify common pitfalls in trial design, analysis, presentation, and results interpretation. The program will provide a broad review of three important trends in massive hemorrhage resuscitation: use of group A plasma, use of pre-hospital and whole blood, and use of balanced resuscitation.

  • Identify common pitfalls in clinical trial design, analysis and data presentation.
