Description

Many industries, particularly those developing new therapeutics, use contract manufacturers to develop their design/formula and support initial clinical trials. Blood and stem cell collection centers typically have significant expertise in manufacturing and quality/regulatory compliance as well as apheresis technology and cell processing capabilities which make them credible partners for firms seeking contract manufacturing. Such industries can benefit from blood and stem cell collection centers expertise to ensure the product meeting prespecified specifications and compliance with all regulatory agencies. Stem cell and blood collection centers can also benefit from diversification of their business and using such relationships to build capacity to serve multiple industry partners.

Learning Objectives:
  • Discuss the possible benefits to stem cell and blood collection centers and to industry by partnering to provide contract manufacturing.
  • Summarize the stem cell and blood collection center perspective on how to ensure quality and appropriate level of oversight to ensure the product meeting prespecified specifications and compliance with all regulatory agencies
  • Review the level of investment required to develop contract manufacturing capabilities and discuss synergies of contract manufacturing with other stem cell and blood center cellular therapy offerings
