Dr. Deanna C Fang is a Health Sciences Associate Professor of Pathology at UC San Diego School of Medicine where she serves as the Associate Director of Immunogenetics & Transplantation Laboratory and as the Associate Director of Transfusion Medicine. She is quintuply certified, having completed a residency in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology (AP/CP) and a fellowship in medical microbiology (MM) at University of Utah School of Medicine (ARUP Laboratories), a fellowship in blood banking /transfusion medicine (BB/TM) at University of Minnesota Medical School, and fellowship in clinical immunogenetics (HLA) at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She previously served as the Medical Director of Blood Bank in the Transfusion Medicine Division at Mayo Clinic Florida, where she also provided cross coverage in apheresis, cell therapy, and coagulation. Dr. Fang currently serves on the AABB Transfusion Transmitted Diseases (TTD) Committee, the Blood Banks and Transfusion Services (BBTS) Standards Committee, and the Uniform Donor History - HPC Task Force. She also has a current and prior history of volunteer service with CAP, ASHI, and other AABB committees and subsections. She currently serves as chair of the ASHI HLA Director in Training (DIT) Education Organizing Group.
