Senior Medical Officer, California Department of Public Health, Infant Botulism Treatment and Prevention Program
Dr. Jessica Khouri is the Senior Medical Officer for BabyBIG® at the Infant Botulism Treatment and Prevention Program, California Department of Public Health (CDPH). She is responsible for overseeing the continued development, manufacture and distribution of CDPH’s public service, plasma-derived orphan biologic, Human Botulism Immune Globulin Intravenous (BIG-IV; BabyBIG®) for the treatment of infant botulism. She also oversees the clinical, epidemiological, and regulatory aspects of the program. Dr. Khouri has conducted multiple Phase 2 IND clinical studies of an investigational botulinum vaccine used to boost BabyBIG source plasma donors. From 2002 to 2012 she served as one of two program on-call clinical specialists who provided expert consultation 24/7/365 and released the medicine to treat suspected and confirmed infant botulism cases in the U.S. and other countries. Dr. Khouri is originally from northeast Ohio and graduated from Denison University summa cum laude and received her Doctor of Medicine degree summa cum laude from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health.
