As a Transfusion Medicine specialist, my primary academic and clinical interest is focused on getting the right blood to the right patient at the right time. As an informaticist, my interest is in using our clinical data to better inform clinical decision making. These interests combine to work towards getting data in the right place and the right time to allow blood transfusion to be utilized when it is best for patient care. I have been a Transfusion Medicine director at Duke Health for 10 years, where I lead the patient blood management initiatives and serve as the champion for Transfusion IT initiatives.
