Dr. Spinosa is a clinical pathologist based in San Diego, California. During his 25 years at Scripps Health, Dr. Spinosa served as Department Chair and Chief of Staff of Scripps Memorial La Jolla. While at Scripps, Dr. Spinosa was active as a consultant in molecular diagnostics for several industry laboratories. In 2017, he left his practice at Scripps to co-found a liquid biopsy start-up that was acquired by Foundation Medicine. He has previously been the CMO of San Diego Blood Bank where his exposure to expanded genotyping began. Subsequently, Dr. Spinosa began informatics consulting work with Lantana Consulting Group where he is the Chief Medical Advisor.
