Paul Eastvold MD, MT(ASCP)

Chief Medical Officer, Vitalant

Dr. Eastvold started his medical career in 1978 as a medical technologist at Loma Linda University Medical Center in southern California. He was with the Loma Linda University Overseas Heart Surgery Team in Saudi Arabia in 1979, followed by three and a half years of training in aviation.

After 15 years of “Teck’in”, he decided to continue his education and complete a medical degree at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1995, a 5 year AP/CP residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, N.C. in 2000, followed by a transfusion medicine fellowship at U.T. Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Texas in 2001.

He has practiced blood banking and transfusion medicine over 38 years in six states and two countries, and is currently working for Vitalant in Spokane, WA as their North Division Chief Medical Officer. He also currently holds the faculty position of Assistant Clinical Professor of Pathology at the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, just down the street from his office.
