Rogelio Zamilpa, Senior Director of Manufacturing, Science and Technology, earned a Doctoral Degree in Biology from the University of Texas in San Antonio. His research and development experience has been centered on Cell and Molecular Biology and applications in tissue repair and regeneration for the last 20 years. His post-doctoral training at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio Department of Cardiology was focused on the wound healing process post-myocardial infarction. After completing his post-doctoral training, Rogelio accepted a Senior Scientist position in industry to develop and manufacture mesenchymal stem cell-derived products and cell expansion platforms. In 2016, he joined BioBridge Global as Director of Cord Blood Operations and subsequently also led the Apheresis Center to distribute hematopoietic stem cell products for transplant. In 2020, Rogelio joined the Biomanufacturing group at GenCure to support manufacturing of cells and cell-derived products. Dr. Zamilpa’s research can be found in various journals including Proteomics, Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, and Matrix Biology. He also holds two patents for expansion of mesenchymal stem cells using microcarriers in combination with extracellular matrix.
