Thane completed his medical school at the University of British Columbia before completing his general pathology residency at the University of Calgary. He moved to Minnesota for his transfusion medicine fellowship at Mayo Clinic and cellular therapy and regenerative medicine fellowship at the University of Minnesota. As of July 2025, he is a transfusion medicine and cellular therapy physician at Alberta Precision Labs in Calgary, AB, Canada where he helps oversee the Cellular Therapy Lab.
