AM22-41-O - AM22-41-O: (On-Demand) Armed Services Blood Program: Pioneering Collaborations to Forge Ahead Within the Military Health System Transformation (Enduring)
The Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) is the official blood program of the Department of Defense (DoD), providing quality blood products and support to the Military Healthcare System (MHS) operations worldwide. ASBP is comprised of integrated blood and blood product support systems and operational elements of the Defense Health Agency, Military Services, and the Combatant Commands. This session will focus on providing details of recent updates in DoD policy and changes to the military’s blood program. ASBP leadership will outline the program’s priority initiatives to include implementation plan for DoD-wide pre-deployment whole blood donor screening, new Quality Assurance plan and procedure manuals, and lessons learned from the MHS GENESIS roll out. A brief case study of donor engagement strategies will also be reviewed. The session will close with the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award presentation, which honors an awardee for lifelong transformative contributions to the ASBP.
