Dr. Klein received her MD from University of Miami. Then she completed her residency at University of Texas at Houston and fellowship in Transfusion Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. She is currently serving as Director of Hemovigilance Unit at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Klein's academic focus is on transfusion safety in which she has published over a dozen of manuscript, reviews and editorials on the subject matter.
