Elizabeth Hartwell MD

Dr. Elizabeth Hartwell is the Chief Medical Officer at Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, where she provides medical guidance and direction for the organization, donor selection and care, blood collection activities, disease notification, and donor health and injuries. In addition, she provides oversight to all transfusion services activities, cellular therapy, and clinical consultations. She is board certified in both Clinical Pathology and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. Dr. Hartwell is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and has previously held academic positions at several hospitals in the Texas Medical Center. Through these positions, she gained invaluable experience working in complex hospital settings as well as in a large community blood center. She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters and has served as the Primary Investigator for various research studies.
