Larry Luchsinger PhD

Dr. Luchsinger is an Associate Member of the NYBC Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute (LFKRI) and Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of NYBC. He is the principal investigator of an independently funded research laboratory focused on the basic biology of hematopoietic stem cells with the goal to improve bone marrow transplantation and broaden the development stem cell therapies. His research interests include calcium signaling, metabolism, cellular stress and plasma membrane organization associated with stem cell function. Dr. Luchsinger is a trained biochemist and molecular biologist and has broad expertise in multiple types of adult and embryonic stem cells. Dr. Luchsinger has authored numerous high-impact publications on several topics related to stem cell biology. In this role, Dr. Luchsinger will oversee the strategy and development of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) production from cryopreserved cord blood units collected by the NYBC National Cord Blood Program and works in partnership with NYBC’s Comprehensive Cell Solutions (CCS).
